Our Sugar Story
Pure and Balanced:
When we started making Siplo cocktails, we started first with the sugar. We wanted to cut as much of it out as possible, and what we kept in had to be 100% pure cane sugar – nothing artificial. It’s not that sugar is bad, we just wanted to figure out how to put the least amount of sugar in and still have a great balanced cocktail.
Low Sugar - Clean cocktails:
Our cocktails are clarified through a special process. With our clarification process, we are able to pull out most of the impurities – this means we don’t have to add as much sugar to overcome the bad tastes. Second, cocktails shouldn’t be too sweet. Don’t get us wrong, we all like a good Mudslide every once in a while, but every day, we wanted something that wasn’t too sweet. That led us to find a number we liked – 8.
We make most of our cocktails with 8 grams of sugar per 3 oz.
Compare our cocktails vs. your favorite cocktail per 3-ounce serving sugar content:
Vodka Soda, Martini, or Dirty Martini: 0 grams
Old Fashioned: ~2 to 4 grams (depending on the amount of simple syrup or sugar cube used)
Aperol Spritz: ~11 to 16 grams (due to the liqueur and Prosecco)
Margarita: 15 to 25+ grams (depending on triple sec, sweet-and-sour mix and simple syrup)
Daiquiri: ~10 to 15 grams
Piña Colada: 30+ grams (due to sugary coconut cream and fruit mixers)
Siplo – 8 Grams for most cocktails
